New satellite Eutelsat 36B was launched on November 23, 2009 and was brought into operation on January 15, 2010. The Russian beam extends frequency resource of Eutelsat 36C. Eutelsat 36B has the same coverage zone, frequency band and polarization.
21 transponders of Eutelsat 36B are assigned to DTH services on the fixed Russian/Ukrainian beam. 27 transponders are available for broadband services, taking over the SESAT 1 mission (also located at 36 degrees East).
36B launch allows to satisfy considerable satellite capacity's deficit in Russia in general, and at 36° E in particular. The Russian DTH platforms NTV-PLUS and Tricolor TV have already started providing services via Eutelsat 36B.
